Autumn Skin Care Tips

As another hot summer comes to an end it’s time to think about changing up your beauty routine. Seasonal changes are often hardest on the skin as it takes time for it to adjust to temperature and other atmospheric changes. When it comes to the transition between summer and autumn it’s all about keeping your skin moist – going from a warm and wet to cool and dry can wreak havoc on smooth skin. Here are some great tips to keep in mind with fall just around the corner.

No More Soap

No that doesn’t mean you stop cleaning yourself, but soap in bar or gel form can dry out your skin as the weather starts to cool. Get yourself a soap-free creamy body wash and save the gels for when the weather warms up again.

Oil is Your Friend

Oil-based scrubs do a better job of sealing in the moisture of your skin – exfoliating and hydrating at the same time. You’ll also need a thicker moisturizer so go for the oily cream rather than lotion to hydrate your skin while providing a barrier against water loss.

Use Balm Early and Often

Protecting your lips is crucial to maintaining beauty in cold weather. A good lip balm will keep them smooth and kissable.

Stay Hydrated

A lot of these tips have to do with keeping in moisture in the sharp winds that come with autumn. The best way to keep moist? Drink water – hydrating your skin from the inside. Consider herbal tea if you’re looking to warm up. Remember, thirsty skin is unhealthy skin.

Stay Away from Blow Drying

This is more of a haircare tip but it’s an important one. Just as the cool weather will dry your skin it will very easily do the same to your hair – blow drying will weaken and dry your hair even further which together could cause damage. Stick to the old fashioned ways of drying your hair until it gets warmer.

Get a Facial

All of these tips are great, but when you need to break out the big guns and really moisturize and beautify getting a professionally done facial is the way to go.
